Senator S.N Anyanwu has been elected as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Imo state in preparations to the 2015 general elections in Nigeria.
In a state congress held in Owerri, the state capital, Thursday, Senator Anyanwu pulled 924 votes to defeat his only opponent, Dr Jude Uzodimma Iheoma who garnered 127 votes.

The election, according to the state chairman, Dr Emeka Ukaegbu was sequel to a court judgment Wednesday which he said upheld the factional national leadership of the party led by mazi Okwu as the authentic leadership of the party.
In his acceptance speech, Senator Anyanwu said that APGA has a huge task of reclaiming the state, calling on all warring factions to close ranks in the best interest of APGA.
The senator who represented Okigwe zone in the red chamber of the national Assembly between 2007-2011 promised to embark on massive industrial revolution and human empowerment programs If elected as governor in 2015.
It could be recalled that APGA in the state had on December 8 held parallel Congresses in Owerri where two persons emerged its governorship candidates, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho and Mr Okey Ezeh, respectively.
