2014 has come and gone almost and there are Imo State born artistes who have done what they can to put their names on the map. Maybe some would say it wasn’t a wonderful year like 2013, but there are still some artistes who have shown great promise this year and should they work on the success of 2014, 2015 will be a wonderful year for them.
There could have been many on this list, but we have chosen 10 who have shown so much promise this year and the ordering does not say who is better than the other but an order they have to follow.
1.   LMG
Known as the Last Man Grinding or Jiggy as he is fondly called, Onwudiwe Regis aka LMG was the guy packing all awards by this time last year because of his single ‘One Bottle’ but having been silent throughout this year and just relying on the promotion of ‘One Bottle’ and some collabos.
Even at that, LMG is still regarded as one of the best artistes from Imo State having recently been rumoured to have signed for a Lagos State based record label, Stackback Records. He was in every great event in the state and beyond; his reputation as one of the best rappers from the South East region of Nigeria is yet to elude him because he can still bounce back in 2015 with a song that will wow people beyond the boundaries of this country.
2.   Money Making
He made a bang early this year with the release of the single ‘Good to Go’ featuring female rapper, Treasure Gold and since that song was released that song, Money Making has turned from just a name to something new for the streets to talk about.
After ‘Good to Go’ came ‘Pelemense’, ‘Shaba’ and he was almost close to releasing an album this year before calling it off, for some professional reasons.
Money Making’s style of rap is same with no others and this has singled him out any time he finds himself in a song.
Two videos to his name this year is an advantage for a guy whom people used to see as just an artiste and with the success he saw this year, 2015 will surely not see less of him because he is really out to make an impact.
3.   Reflex Sounds
To many, this guy is just a producer but beyond the lines of music production, Reflex has established himself as one of the best artistes from this part of the country soaring beyond in a way most people do not understand.
Reflex has been in great shape throughout the year and aside his music production thing he has done good songs that have moved beyond imaginable boundaries.
With Reflex’s quality and style as a rapper, he is surely one of the revelations of 2014 one that will surely have 2015 as his year of manifestation.
4.   Floxy
Maybe we should talk about a wonderful singer who could also dance on stage. Chinwendu Florence Izuchukwu aka Floxy is perfect for this description and with what she has established herself as in 2014.
She rose to fame in late 2013 with some serial stunning performances in Imo State and beyond and since then, Floxy has become a voice for the ladies and a figure for the guys who mostly adore her moves on stage.
With the release of her single ‘Are You Ready’ early this year, she also catapulted her name beyond the boundaries that used to confine her within the walls of her vicinity.
Floxy has the voice and moves that must people could die for and all she needs is just one early band for 2015 and she would be seeing herself as one of the best in the country.
5.   Skutch
After the release of ‘Ibonge’ in 2013, Skutch became a national story and since then it has been from one move to another for this Enugu State born singer.
After Ibonge’s video was released, it was another dimension for Skutch to explore and he made the straight move by doing a collabo with the Limpopo crooner, Kcee in 2014 and even though many would say he has not lived up to the standard ‘Ibonge’ placed him after, but if this guy could do a song like that, he could do it again and again.
Skutch can still pull a surprise stunt in 2015 and if this happens, it will be just good for him.
6.   Acharaman
He would be seen as the king of contemporary music in Imo State and that reputation has always seen him through so many huddles as a rapper.
Acharaman might have had a low cruise in 2014 having failed to complete the mixtape project he started early this year.
With the release of the single ‘My City Rocks’, Acharaman found a way to get back into the hearts of the people especially in Imo State. With that and other legacies, he still stands a great chance of picking a great spot amongst those destined to be great in 2015.
7.   Treasure Gold
One female rapper who has found her way into distorting the balance of the male dominance in the music industry with her hard work and quest to remain relevant in the industry is Treasure Gold.
She did songs and collabos this year and they have gone a long way in making one great rapper, who is talked about beyond the boundaries of Eastern Nigeria.
Treasure Gold is in no doubt one big bang waiting to explode in 2015.
8.   XBusta
Xbusta is a street legend and one artiste who can never escape the list of the best artistes in Imo State, no matter who writes it.
The fact that he achieved feats like grabbing the one million Naira of Imo State 2014 Carnival means he still has the loyalty of the streetS and the street credibility to make it to the top.
Come 2015, XBusta who is signed to Valencia Records will surely be one of the artistes to watch out for.
9.   Ryders
If this article was to be a rating, it won’t be complete without mentioning Rydas who are made up of Eizzy and Yoppy. They would never have been on the 9th position. These guys are good and the fact that their hit track ‘Virgin’ is still banging means that there is still something left to carry them into 2015.
They have the stage moves needed to make great artistes and this is surely what is expected of them, come 2015.
10.   KozyG
He also has his sister Floxy on in this list and is surely one of the greatest singers from this part of the world.
KozyG in 2014 silenced his doubters with two wonderful singles and they have done him well since them.
He cruised with the Tour De Magnific crew as one of the faces people usually wanted to see. He has his stage charisma which has made people to wonder how a one-man stage performance could be as stunning as a chorographic one.
There are things which can never change about this young singer and they include the fact that he will surely be one of the voices that will be singing out loud come 2015.
