As the world gears toward achieving a global village through Information and Communication Technology, people from all works of life are doing their best to see that they are relevant in this evolving global village concept.

In view of this, the School of Education, Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education Owerri, (A.I.F.C.E) during their 2012 National Conference chose the theme ‘Integrating ICT into the Educational System’ for the their 3 days conference which isfeaturing paper presentations and seminars.

The conference which is holding at the College Auditorium started on July 4, 2012 and will be ending today July 7, 2012.

Speaking to www.otowngist.com, Dr. A U. Anusiem, the chairman of the conference organizing committee said “the world is turning into a global village and this conference is a kind of sensitization programme that is highlighting the importance of ICT in Education in Nigeria. Information technology can do all things, and you can do nothing without it in this evolving global world”

Dr Anusiem also pointed out that there are about 200 papers for presentation with more still being accepted.

The conference is highlighting the importance of ICT in the educational System, and the participants hope to mark high level of improvement in their teaching methods after the programme.

Those present at the programme include the Honourable Commissioner for Education in Imo State, Prof Adaobi Obasi,Provost A.I.F.C.E, Dr( Mrs) Blessing Ijeoma, Dr P.C Nkwocha, Dean School of Education A.I.F.C.E; Prof G. S Ibe Bassey, Dept of Educational Technology, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State,Dr Alex Iwu, from Centre for Educational Technology A.I.F.C.E, and others.

We hope to see when assignments will be submitted via emails and lecture materials downloaded online, just like it is done in other parts of the world and we hope this conference will take us steps close to that level in A.I.F.C.E and Nigeria as a whole.
