Wike’s Son Denies Receiving $2.1m in Abuja Land Deal, Says Signature Was Forged

Jordan Ezenwo Nyesom-Wike, son of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has denied receiving $2.1 million from businessman Safwan Garba GY over an alleged Abuja property deal, telling an FCT High Court that his signature on documents linking him to the transaction was forged.

Jordan, a lawyer, made the claim on Wednesday while being cross-examined in his defence in a civil suit filed by Garba and GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited. The case, marked CV/008/2026, is before Justice Silvanus Oriji of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.

The claimants allege that they paid Jordan the money in connection with a proposed real estate development involving land in Guzape and Katampe. They are seeking repayment of the $2.1 million, 10 per cent interest from the date of judgment, N100 million in damages and the cost of the legal proceedings.
Jordan rejected the allegations and disputed the authenticity of a contract containing a signature attributed to him. “I did not receive any money from anybody. I did not sign any document for land deal,” he told the court, adding that he only discovered the alleged use of his signature when the document was presented during the proceedings.

The defendant also denied knowing a man identified by the claimants as Onor Sandy, who they alleged was present when the cash payment was made. The claimants said the alleged payment took place at a residence in Gwarimpa, Abuja, on September 26, 2025, in the presence of Adamu Sani, Aliyu Sarki and Sai Wani.

The dispute also involves a proposed joint venture under which, according to the claimants, Jordan was to contribute land while Garba would provide $4.2 million for housing development. The proposed arrangement covered 1.7 hectares in Guzape and 1.5 hectares in Katampe New Extension, with the parties allegedly agreeing to share proceeds on a 60-40 basis.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, the court also heard evidence relating to a voice note dated October 17, 2025, which had previously been admitted as Exhibit 7. When questioned about whether money was discussed in the conversation, Jordan acknowledged that the transcript contained such a discussion but maintained that he did not physically meet Garba on September 26, 2025.

The case remains unresolved, with Jordan maintaining that he neither received the money nor signed the disputed documents. His lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Ogwu Onoja, adopted his statement on oath denying the allegations. Justice Oriji granted the defence’s request to subpoena witnesses and adjourned the case to December 1, 2 and 14, 2026, for continuation of trial.
