Heartland FC of Owerri moved two points away from relegation zone after beating league leaders Remo Stars in a nervy game. 

The Owerri outfit opened the scoring in the 50th minute  when Promise Anyanwu scored from the penalty spot to put the home side ahead. 

Remo Stars who were determined to get something from the game responded 19 minutes later when Alimi Sikiru leveled for the visitors.

Remo Stars looked to have secured a point from the game before Onyekachi Okafor put the home side ahead again at the stroke of the final minute.

Substitute Chinedu Ike sealed the game for the Naze Millionaires with a fine goal,in the fourth minute of added time, ensuring they leapfrog out of the relegation zone. 

The win saw Heartland FC move from bottom of the table to 5 steps away in 16th position. 

Heartland FC will look to consolidate on the victory when they travel to Niger Tornadoes on January 10 2024.

Meanwhile, Remo Stars remain at the top of the table despite the loss.
