There have been reports of attacks alleged to be politically motivated, in parts of Rivers State, less than 48 hours to the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Former Rivers State Commissioner for Rural Water Supply, Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja reportedly escaped assassination in his hometown in Opobo, Opobo Local Government Area of the state.

Gogo-Jaja revealed this on his Facebook handle.

He wrote: “My brother wants to kill me. “They bombed my house this morning”.

DailyPost gathered that the residence of the former Commissioner was attacked by suspected thugs with dynamite.

Gogo-Jaja is an ally of the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar.

Report revealed that one of the suspected assailants was neutralised in the process.

Similarly, the home of the House of Assembly candidate for Etche State Constituency, under the All Progressives Congress, Charles Anyanwu was also reported to have been attacked by hoodlums.

Although no life was lost, properties were destroyed.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko promised to revert on the true position of the incidents.

This comes after suspected thugs attacked the residence of the House of the Representatives candidate of the Social Democratic Party for Obio-Akpor Federal constituency, King Tony Gboms on Tuesday, and the attack by gunmen on the premises of a TV/Radio station owned by a former House of Representatives member, Chinyere Igwe, in Ozuoba, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

No life was lost in both attacks.
