Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has affirmed being a part of Northern leaders’ resolution on power shift to the South contrary to insinuations from certain quarters.
Making this clarification in a statement in Ilorin on Monday, Special Adviser on Political Communications, Bashir Adigun, said the governor was compelled to do clarification following inquiries from various quarters.
“We have been inundated with enquiries on whether our Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq supports the resolution of Northern leaders on Power Shift to Southern Nigeria.
“We like to state emphatically that the Governor was ab initio fully part of the meeting and resolution of the Northern leaders that the next President should come from Southern part of the country.”
He explained that “the Governor could not immediately sign the resolution of the meeting because he was at his niece’s wedding held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, where he was the chief host.
“Governor AbdulRazaq’s Northern colleagues were thus unable to wait for his physical signature on the resolution because they needed to send it to the President immediately.
“The final copy of the resolution was, however, brought to him later and he became the 12th signatory to the resolution,” Adigun stated.
The final list of the 12 Northern Governors sighted by DAILY POST included AbdulRahanan AbdulRazaq endorsing Southern Presidency in 2023.
