The Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, has noted with concern the continued expression of anger and disgust by well-meaning individuals and groups over issues bordering on security in the state.

Soludo described the murder of Mrs Harira Jibril and her four children by unknown gunmen as worrisome.

A statement by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Christian Aburime, on Wednesday noted that the governor acknowledged the patriotic condemnation of the gruesome act by the Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, and Arewa Consultative Forum, as well as their demands that the perpetrators of the heinous act be fished out and brought to justice.

The governor assured Nigerians, irrespective of religion and ethnic nationalities living and engaging in lawful activities in the state, of their safety; while the government does all within the ambit of the law to apprehend and deal with the criminals.

Soludo, who described the May 20 killing of Jibril and her four children by unidentified assailants as “barbaric and unacceptable”,  vowed to fish out the perpetrators and ensure they are dealt with according to law; adding, “There is no going back on that”.

“The government of Anambra State under my watch cannot shirk or relent on its constitutional responsibility of securing life and property of the citizens and residents,” he said.
