Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Ekiti State Command, have arrested two cattle rustlers, Mohammed Mohammed, 22 and Yahu Bello, 42, who allegedly attacked some herdsmen, snatched a cow and went away with the sum of N500,000.00.

A statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday Abutu explained that the Command received a distress call that a group of cattle rustlers came to Ikole-Ekiti forest, attacked some herdsmen with dangerous weapons and forcefully went away with a cow valued at five hundred thousand naira (N500,000:00).

Upon the receipt of the information, the Command mobilised a team of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) to the scene where the marauders were arrested.

According to the statement, the suspected cattle rustlers confessed to the commission of the crime and led operatives to the house of the receiver of the rustled cow.

He said the cow has been dismembered but the receiver unfortunately escaped arrest.

He noted that manhunt had been launched on the fleeing receiver, while the arrested suspects will be charged to court for prosecution
