143 PDP aspirants jostle for Adamawa’s 25-member House of Assembly

One hundred and forty-three aspirants in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are jostling for seats in the Adamawa State House of Assembly.

The House, which has 25 seats, is currently occupied by 13 members of the governing PDP and 12 members of the main opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

Towards the 2023 general elections, the PDP has just screened 143 aspirants seeking the party’s ticket for the House of Assembly election, according to the Committee that conducted the screening.

Chairman of the House of Assembly/National Assembly Screening Committee for the state, Rt Hon Dave Iorhemba, who disclosed this to DAILY POST in the Adamawa State capital, Yola, said 144 applied for the screening but one did not attend the screening.

Dave Iorhemba, a former speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, who spoke to our correspondent at the weekend just before leaving Yola after the screening exercise, said the screening was successful.

“There were 144 aspirants for House of Assembly seats, but one did not appear for the screening for the reason which we don’t know,” he said.

Iorhemba said 54 aspirants were screened for the House of Representatives primary election of the PDP, and that 22 senatorial aspirants were screened.

He said the five-member National Assembly, State House of Assembly Aspirants screening in Adamawa State took two days of day and night hard work to complete its assignment.

“We took two days, morning to night. We had much work with the House of Assembly aspirants. They were so many,” he said.
