A house of assembly aspirant for Njaba State Constituency in the forthcoming People’s Democratic Party primary election, Hon. Chidi Nobert Agbasi, has been accused of perjury, Forgery and Impersonation by a staunch Member of the PDP from Njaba for forging their names and signatures to complete his PDP nomination form to enable him participate in the party’s primary election billed to take place on May 7th, 2022.

This was contained in a petition brought against Hon. Agbasi which was addressed to the State Chairman, and The Chairman, screening committee, People’s Democratic Party, Imo State through the petioners’ Counsel, S. A. ANASOH & CO Legal Practioners.

The petition states, “It is our instruction that our client introduced one of his Uncles, a respected member of the community and serving Ward Vice chairman, Umuaka Ward 1 to sign the NOMINATION FORM for one of the Aspirants for Njaba State Constituency Imo State House Of Assembly and in the process, it was discovered that his name and all detailed information of him including his signature had been forged and used to nominate another candidate without his consent and approval”.

“Based on this information, our client’s Uncle cried out to him that his name was used to nominate one Chidi Nobert Agbasi against his consent and approval for the aforesaid Aspirant. Our client was disturbed over this act of perjury, impersonation and forgery and so carried out personal investigation on the matter, only to discover that there had been massive forgery and impersonation perpetrated and masterminded by one of the Aspirants for Imo state House of Assembly, Njaba state Constituency, Chidi Nobert Agbasi” in at least 10 instances.

Speaking further, the Counsel to the petitioner further revealed that all the persons listed in the said nomination form have denied giving out their names nor appended their signatures for the nomination of Chidi Nobert Agbasi. When confronted with a copy of the Nomination form for Mr Agbasi, one of the alleged Nominees from who is also from Atta (The same community as Mr Agbasi) also cried out openly that he nominated another candidate aside Chidi Nobert Agbasi and was confused how his name reflected as a Nominee for Chidi Nobert Agbasi.

According to S. A. ANASOH & CO,  the Imo house of assembly hopeful for Njaba state constituency, Hon. The petitioner is shocked to learn that despite him presenting The Party’s State Chairman and Screening Committee with overwhelming evidence (copies of Mr Agassi’s fraudulent nomination form, his petition and sworn affidavits from the party members whom Mr Agbasi forged their signatures), Mr Agasi was cleared to contest in the upcoming Party Primaries. He called on the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party in the state, especially the screening committee set up by the party to scrutinize all aspirants presenting themselves for election to investigate into the perjury, Forgery and Impersonation accusations leveled against Agbasi in order to bring him to book with immediate effect even as aggrieved persons who’s names were forged are resolute to approach the Police and court to commence criminal proceeding against Agbasi.

Some of the ward chairmen who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity expressed rage that despite glaring case  of forgery and impersonation, the screening committee went ahead to clear Agbasi to stand in for primary election. It is speculated that Agbasi paid N2million to compromise the committee which is now allegedly working so hard to retrieve the original nomination form to replace it with another.

At the time of filling this report, it was said that Agbasi has been calling Njaba delegates to be at alert as to enable them fill another form for him, moment he gets one. Effort to reach Nobert Agbasi for his reaction on the development proved abortive as his phone line was indicated switched off.

The attached images clearly show copies of Mr Agbasi’s completed Nomination form, the submitted petitions, Affidavit of Facts from some of the Parties Statutory delegates whose signatures were forged.
