As the July 16, Osun 2022 gubernatorial election draws nearer, the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran has charged politicians to do away with campaign of calumny against each other.

Oba Aromolaran also called on politicians to limit their campaigns to issues rather than mudslinging and casting aspersions on one another.

The royal father gave the advice while receiving the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke to his palace in Ilesa.

The monarch explained that the people of Ijesaland had always relied on the strength of the unity in the land to achieve development in all strata of life.

The traditional ruler, who believed that the unity in Ijesaland could not be threatened by political differences among the people, told the gathering that the Ijesas would speak with one voice during the elections.

He also urged Adeleke to stand by his campaign promises if he emerged as the elected governor at the end of the day.

Earlier, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Senator Adeleke informed the Owa Obokun of his aspiration and solicited for his prayers.
