For foreigners, they dream of living in the United States to create a better life for themselves and their families. that dream came true for comedian Michael Blackson! The African-born comedian shared that after coming to New Jersey from Africa at the age of 13-years-old, he has officially been sworn in as an American citizen. The journey wasn’t easy, and on Instagram, he shared that this was over 30 years in the making!

Michael shared a photo of his green card with a lengthy message. It read, “I’m showing ya’ll this because I have to turn this in back to the U.S immigration today at 10 in Los Angeles. For those who have no idea what this is, it’s a green card, and now you know a green card is not green lol. I’ve made a living making fun of America and Americans, but all jokes aside, America is by far the greatest Cocountryn the world, and that’s why everyone comes here for an opportunity.”

He continued, “Today, I’m turning in my green card to replace it with an American citizenship certificate. I’m not going to get into details of why it took over 30 years to finally become a citizen, but one reason was I just loved being an African and wanted to stay authentic. This country has been nothing but a blessing to me, especially my Black Americans who embraced me from the first time they saw me on “Comicview” and the movie “Next Friday.”

In the message, he also showed love to Latin, Asian, Indians, and White Americans, who shower him with love throughout his career. The comedian shared an additional photo waving the American Flag expressing his excitement. Michael isn’t the only celebrity that has recently received his American Citizenship status. Last year, Jamaican-born NBA baller, Tristan Thompson became a naturalized citizen! Congrats Michael!
