He warned them to ‘stay focused’ on the task at hand against Manchester United on Saturday.

Ronaldo left Juventus and made his way back to Old Trafford at the closing stage of the transfer window and could be unleashed on Newcastle by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side on Premier League Day 4.

Saint-Maximin, talking to NUFC TV, admitted the opposition ‘look much better’ with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner in their ranks.

“To be honest, even before Ronaldo signed, they had a great team. So for sure, with Cristiano Ronaldo now, they can look much better,’ Saint-Maximin said.

“But we have to stay focused because if we just think about Ronaldo we’re going to lose the game, for sure.

“We just have to stay focused and to feel like it’s just football and if you give your best and give everything, everything can happen so we have to do it.

“The Premier League is really tough. I saw their game against Wolves and Wolves had a lot of chances to win the match.

“Even though it’s Manchester United, they are not invincible. We have to keep going and try to do the best things we can do to win this game.

“If we cannot win then we lose and that’s the mentality we need to have.”
