Zamfara Governor, Bello Matawalle has urged Nigerians to intensify prayers for God’s intervention on insecurity.

Matawalle spoke during a special prayer organised by the Ulamau Consultative Committee (UCC).

The Governor attended the Wednesday session held at the Gusau Central Mosque, NAN reports.

He appealed to citizens to complement the government and security agencies’ efforts in tackling banditry and other challenges.

”Prayer is the only powerful weapon that can solve any calamity on the people. We must seek for Allah’s forgiveness”, Matawalle said.

Prayers were observed in all the Juma’at mosques in Zamfara.

The state has been under bandits’ seige in recent years. Weekly attacks have left hundreds dead, kidnapped or injured.

On Wednesday, the Police confirmed the abduction of 73 Students of Government Day Secondary School in Kaya.

Mohammed Shehu, the spokesman said a large number of bandits invaded the school at about 11:22am on Wednesday.

Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkanah advised the public, parents and relatives of the students “to exercise patience and continue to pray for the success of the rescue operation”.
