The first thing Nollywood actress Lady Nneoma Ukpabi did after receiving the Actress of the Year Award at the just concluded Arise Africa Achievers Award was to thank everyone who has been with her.

Nneoma Ukpabi who has had an outstanding year in the movie industry said the award shows the work she is putting in is being noticed.

Adding that the recognition calls for more work, Lady Ukpabi who is the Chairperson of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Imo State Chapter, said she is ready for the challenge.

“I understand that when awards like this come, a lot of people will want to see if you truly deserve it. I deserve it because I have worked for it” she said, having bagged the award ahead veteran Genevieve Nnaji and Rita Dominic.

Others in the category are Akudo Nwaneri, Chioma Yomi, Real Warri Pikin and while Lady Nneoma Ukpabi emerged winner, she said it doesn’t mean the others in the category have not been doing well.

“They are fantastic and have always been,” she told OtownGist. “You can’t put their achievement in one book and I am glad that we have a lot of women doing well in the movie industry”

“I appreciate them and I am glad that collectively we are inspiring the younger generation to follow their dreams and do great things”

She thanked the organizers for the platform and also appreciated everyone who voted for her to emerge the winner in the category.

“I won’t forget everyone who voted for me; thank you. I want to also congratulate others winners and nominees, together we made the event what it was. Thank you”

Arise Africa Achievers Award which was held alongside the Face of Arise Africa Pageant took place on the 24th and 25th of July 2021 respectively.

Other winners at the event include Her Excellency, Barr Chioma Uzodinma – Distinguished Personality of The Year Award; Chief Imo – Best Actor of The Year Award; Jerry Osuji -Media Personality of The Year, amongst others
