President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the recommendation of Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi for an Administrative Panel of Inquiry to probe the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

His Special Assistant on Media, Garba Shehu made the announcement Thursday night in a statement.

The President also approved that the Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman should step aside while the investigation is on.

Mohammed Koko, the Executive Director of Finance and Administration will act in the position.

The panel is to be headed by the Director, Maritime Services, Transport Ministry, while the Deputy Director, Legal of the same ministry will serve as Secretary.

Other members of the panel will be appointed by the Minister, the statement added.

DAILY POST reported that the suspension might be connected to an alleged feud between Amechi and Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

But a source said the development could be sanction for certain infractions committed by the NPA management and reported to the President.
