The Osun State Police Command has warned residents against unlawful gathering/protest that will jeopardize the existing relative peace and tranquility presently enjoyed in the State.

The command made the warning in a statement on Tuesday evening, signed by the police spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola.

The statement disclosed that some elements were planning to embark on unlawful gathering/protest, to show their grievances concerning an ill-conceived perception of insecurity and hike in food prices allegedly in the State.

However, the state’s Commissioner for police, Olawale Olokode warned that the plan be jettisoned, adding that the Command would not condone any act(s) that will jeopardize peace in the state.

The police boss said, “It should be noted that, the spate of insecurity presently experienced is nationwide and not peculiar to Osun State, who is lucky to have her own share put in check. Be reminded also that gathering of any sort is unlawful and a violation of COVID-19 laws.”
