Following an attack on the Imo State police headquarters, and Correctional facility in the state which saw about 1,800 inmates break away, another police station has been attacked and razed.
The Ehime Mbano Divisional Police Station was razed on Tuesday by unknown gunmen after the outgone Police Inspector General Mohammed Adamu and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had left the state.
The gunmen were reported to have set cars in the station ablaze, free all detainees, and then torched the police building.
The state police command confirmed that there was no casualty, while no group has been fingered on the attack.
The Ehime Mbano Divisional Police Station is the 7th police station to be attacked in Imo State, further heightening the security situation in the state.
Earlier the Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma had said that he will leave no stone unturned to fish out the perpetrators of the crime, while former Police Inspector General whose last official duty was in Owerri, said that members the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOD were responsible for the crime.
Earlier today, the presidency had appointed DIG Usman Alkali Baba acting Inspector General of Police, bringing to an end the tenure of retiring Mohammed Adamu who was in Owerri, Imo State earlier on Tuesday to inspect the extent of the damage done by the gunmen who attacked the State Police Headquarter and Correctional Facility.
A total of 7 police stations have been attacked in Imo State with detainees free, cars, document and buildings set ablaze.
