Reprieve has come the way of 27 Chairmen of Interim Management Committee, IMC in Imo State as Governor Hope Uzodinma has shelved their sack.
INNONEWS had reported exclusively that the governor was due to sack the Chairmen, and members of Interim management committees, in the 27 local governments.
Their sack was predicated on the need for the governor to accommodate what a source described as “fresh layers of interest within the party into his government”
This newspaper however learnt that the idea of sacking the chairmen has been eventually dropped for now. The plan was shelved in the heat of the Endsars protest, and to allow the Chairmen “more time to mend fences”
The source said “The Endsars protest contributed in putting a halt to their sack. It changed the narrative in government circles. What is paramount now is to ensure peace and stability across the state in aftermath of violence that trailed the Endsars protests
“Much as the governor was displeased with some of the chairmen over the shoddy manner they handled security matters in their domains, the idea of sacking them which has been raging in the media for sometime, has been shelved. I can tell you that for free. This is not the appropriate time to do that.
“They may however go after one year this administration has spent in office. Even appointees will be moved around when the time comes. But for now, nobody is going anywhere. No one will be sacked.
The headquarters of two local governments, Orlu, Ehime Mbano were torched by arsonists during the Endsars protest.
