The member representing Ikeduru state constituency and Majority leader in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon.Amb. Uche Ogbuagu, Weekend marked the one year anniversary of his radio station, Real FM 99.1 Aba in Abia State.
He also gave award of excellence to the wife of Abia State Governor, Her Excellence Deaconess Dr. Nkechi Ikpeazu; Representative of Anambra South Senatorial district, Dist. Sen. Patrick Ifeanyi Uba; Speaker of the state House, Rt. Hon. Chiji Collins; Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu; Chief of Staff of the state, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie; Chief of staff Abia State, Dr ACB Agbazuere among others.
While interacting with journalists amidst the event which took place at the Hotel DU Golf and Conference Margaret Avenue, Aba/Owerri Road in Abia State, Ogbuagu expressed joy over the success of the event but regreted that some of his guests due to some unavoidable challenges could not make it to the ceremony.
The lawmaker who pointed out that he is looking forward to a better 2021 anniversary of the radio, said he was elated the station has given a sense of belonging to the indigenes, especially young artists in the state, saying that he knew how hard it was for him as a street comedian to get a media space.
He continued that he is proud that he can gladly say, which according to him the people can attest to that the station has given the young artists diverse platforms to come on board to showcase their talents on air.
The majority leader stated that he is also anticipating for progress in the state in terms of infrastructural development, commercial activities, security; safety of life and property, adding that it will serve as a source of encouragement to them as his plans for the state as where he began his journey is beyond just establishing the radio station.
Ogbuagu urged the youths to always think out of the box and endeavour to have legal means of livelihood which he said will not only pay off but will give them peace of mind which according to him, is worth more than any dubious wealth.
He appreciating all that were present in the celebration, including those that have contributed to the success of the station, called on other renowned Aba brought-ups to follow suit in growing the area as together they can make Aba the envy of all.
Earlier, the station manager, Obinna Odowuike who was elated over the turnout of the event, expressed joy over the cordial relationship he said exists between the station and the host community.
Odowuike pointed out that as the station has not failed in leaving up to its promise of being the mouthpiece of the voiceless and ensuring balanced news reportage among others, that they are assuring them of keeping the flag flying for better days ahead.
Other high point of the event was the anniversary lecture by the Abia State Chief of Staff, Dr Agbazuere With the topic, ”Role of Closer Synergy Between the Executive Arm of Government and the Media in Achieving Sustainable Multiparty Democratic Culture in Nigeria”. He summarized the topic by saying that the two parties in the subject matter are major actors who aids in shapening the country and so should ensure to be discipline and maintain integrity in their diverse professions.
There was cutting of the cake by the Real FM family, the people had lots of delicacies and drinks, including the presence of popular musicians; Bright Chimezie and Isreal Anyanele who thrilled them with soul uplighting songs.
