Imo State Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planning, Barr. Enyinna Onuegbu, KSC, has disclosed that the government of Governor Hope Uzodinma inherited over 1,500 land cases ranging from duplication of titles, ownership tussles and illegal revocations saying as a government which believes in due process, most of the issues are being addressed with the interest of Imo people in mind. The Commissioner made this assertion when the General Assembly and Executive of the Nigerian Football Association, NFA,Imo State, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the State Secretariat.

Onuegbu who further stated that the State government is waiting for the outcome of the Judicial Commission of Enquiry on Lands which the present government inherited from the previous administration said government after studying the whitepaper will start addressing all the issues that had to do with complaints and new allocations. The Commissioner informed the football fraternity that Governor Hope Uzodinma is a sports friendly Governor stressing that the Shared Prosperity Government will not shy away from meeting the requests of such bodies like the Imo FA. As a sports enthusiasts himself, Onuegbu said he will personally carry the demands of the Imo FA to the governor saying within a forthnight, the Association will receive a reply from the governor.

He commended members of the Imo FA saying as a government which is development oriented, adequate attention will be paid to their requests. Onuegbu equally congratulated the General Manager of Heartland Football Club who he described as a dedicated person having known him for over 20 years saying that the GM will take the club to a higher level. Earlier, the leader of the group and former Chairman of Imo FA, Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam said they came to Onuegbu believing that he will solve their problems which according to him is a request for a land to build the FIFA Football Project which States like Edo, Anambra, Kogi, Lagos, etc, have since benefitted from. Uchegbulam informed the Commissioner that Imo State missed the first phase of the FIFA Football Project because of the issue of Land appealing to the Commissioner to do all within his capacity to let the governor know of the importance of the project stressing that the amount of goodwill that the FIFA project will attract to the administration will be unprecedented.

Uchegbulam disclosed that Imo State sports men and women contribute a large chunk of national teams in the country saying governor Uzodinma cannot afford to joke with sports especially football. Among these present includes the General Manager of Heartland FC, the Chief Security Officer of the Imo FA, Chairman and members of Sports Writers Association, SWAN, Imo State, representatives of the Imo State Referees Association, among others.
