The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Hon.Sunday Dare at Abuja received the Senior Special Assistant on Youth Affairs to Imo State Governor, Hon. Eric Uwakwe and leadership of the Nigeria Youth Congress NYC.Â
The closed door meeting which was held on July 28, 2020, saw the minister endorse NYC and also discuss best strategies for youth development in the country.
According to Hon. Uwakwe, his involvement in the meeting was centered on finding pragmatic approaches to bridging the gap between Imo state youths and youths-oriented opportunities at the Federal level.
He also stated the the meeting helped to establish relationships that would inadvertently fast track and provide opportunities for employment, capacity building as well as encourage innovations that would impact positively on the affairs of Imo youths.
“We’re looking for the best ways to serve Imo youths and also make Imo State better”
“Through the commitment of the 3R Initiative of Governor Hope Uzodinma, we want to also align with the opportunities at the federal level so that Imo Youths will not be carried along, but have more opportunities among them”
With the endorsement of NYC as the official youth body in the country, Hon. Uwakwe hailed the minister for the move and other programmatic initiatives his office has rolled out.
He pledge to do more for Imo youths, adding that as the future of the country, more attention should be paid to the affairs of the youths who in most cases are not getting the right amount of attention.
Other leaders of the Nigerian Youth Congress at the meeting are the President, Hon Blessing .A.Akinlosotu:  Chairman Governing Board, Dr. Yakubu shendan,:Secretary General, Dr Raymond Edoh amongst others.
