The Imo State Police Command, on Tuesday confirmed the death of the Commander of Special Anti-Robbery Squad in the Akokwa unit of the state, Obaseki Banjoko.

The police spokesperson in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, said that the death of the SARS commander was a big loss to the command.

Ikeokwu said the patent medicine dealer, who administered an injection on Banjoko that led to his death, had been arrested.

He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Olaniyi Fafowora, had ordered an investigation into the incident.

“I can confirm the death of the SARS commander, Akokwa Unit. It is a big loss to the command. He was a committed cop and passionate crime fighter. The CP has ordered an investigation into the matter to determine the cause of his death,” Ikeokwu stated.

Our correspondent learnt that the deceased started shaking and lost consciousness after the injection was administered on him.

He was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
