All the states in South East and South South regions of the country are to take part in this year’s Ahiajoku festival, the Director-General, Ahiajoku Institute, Dr. Amanze Obi has disclosed.

Addressing newsmen in Owerri, Tuesday, Dr Obi described this year’s festival as a special one in the sense that the man who delivered the inaugural lecture, Prof. M.J. C Echeruo will be the lecturer for the 40th edition.

He also disclosed that other prominent sons of Igbo land namely Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, Ochiagha Ebitu Ukiwe former military governor of Lagos State and Professor ABC Nwosu will chair different segments of the occasion.

Dr Obi equally disclosed that the Ahiajoku lecture has now advanced to an institution, having lined up series of events such as cultural night where people of diverse culture will display their rich cultural heritage.

He also informed that a lecture on the challenge of leadership in contemporary society will be delivered at the Mbari Centre on Friday, while an arts exhibition will equally take place at the same venue.

According to Obi, the Ahiajoku lecture proper holds on Saturday.

He effusively thanked Gov Ihedioha for reviving the cultural festival which was abandoned by the immediate past administration of Rochas Okorocha.

Some members of the Ahiajoku Planning Committee namely Hon Donald Ekenta and Hon Nze Ray Emeana were at the briefing.

They solicited the cooperation of journalists to help make this year’s festival a huge success.
