Operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a 44-year-old man, Ikechi Ojiala, for snatching a vehicle belonging to a lawmaker, Uju Onwudiwe.

The state Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi, said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday during an operation coordinated by the F-SARS Commander, Victor Geoffrey.

Galadanchi explained that the feat was achieved by the F-SARS operatives in the Orlu Local Government Area of the state following a tip-off.

The suspect, who hails from the Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, was said to be responsible for the snatching of one Toyota Sienna SUV, which was later recovered.

Galadanchi said, “The operation was coordinated by CSP Victor Geoffrey, but led by ASP Banjoko Oluwemimo. While acting on a tip-off in the Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, they arrested one Ikechi Ojiala, 44, of Umuokwara Okwudor, Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.

“He (Ojiala) was responsible for snatching one unregistered Toyota Sienna SUV from one Daniel Chikwado Duru of the Okwudor Njaba Local Government Area at gunpoint.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and led operatives to Amandogba in the Isu Local Government Area of Imo State, where the vehicle was recovered.

“Recall that the said Sienna SUV, which belongs to one Uju Onwudiwe, was snatched from one Daniel Chikwado Duru on October 6, 2018, at the Central School, Okwudor, during the APC primary.”
