The Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha has continued to receive media attacks from the leaders of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state following what they described as anti party activities being perpetrated by the governor in recent time.
Some of the party leaders who spoke to Daily Nigerian Horn averred that the party will soon compel Okorocha to make his position clear on where his loyalty lies either in APC or the Action Alliance (AA), where according to them, he allegedly supported his aides to defect to in the state.
According to one of the party leaders, Barr. Enyinnaya Ounegbu, Okorocha cannot continue to fool himself that he is still in APC and that he still has genuine support for the reelection of President Muhammad Buhari in 2019.
He stated that Okorocha has by his action exhibited that he has lost leadership control of his aides and that of the state in general adding that Okorocha should join his aides to defect to AA and contest on the platform ofg the party instead of paying lip service of still being a member of APC.
“The recent behaviors of Governor Okorocha do not augur well for a person occupying the position of governor of Imo state on the platform of APC to seat back and claim ignorant of the fact that his appointees and ex-appointees and son in-law are moving to an opposition party.
“He doesn’t show any leadership quality again. He doesn’t show any capacity again both as a father to the family and as a father to the state; that he will be celebrating the departure of members of his family to another family. In any way you look at it, it doesn’t show any good leadership quality in favour of the governor.
“You see everybody have seen that what Okorocha is doing is anti-party activity and I am sure that the party leadership knows what to do.
“And for Okorocha, if he believes so much that his group will win election in AA, he should have led by example by going to AA himself to contest for senate for Orlu senatorial district. Then, we will know he is out to crash APC in Imo.
“Secondly he cannot be claiming to be supporting President Buhari while arming opposition because you cannot love a father and hate his children. President Buhari is the father of every other candidate of APC in Nigeria.
‘If the governor claims he supports President Buhari, but hate his children to the extent he will raised opposition for them. It means he is not genuine on his support for President Buhari. He hasn’t told us the truth about his claiming to stick with Buhari.” Onuegbu said.
