A woman who claims to be mentally unstable was almost lynched to death by a mob yesterday in Mazamaza area of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, Lagos State, for consistently rubbing faeces on the gate of a church.

According to a resident, for almost six months, every morning the workers of Ministry of Perfection Church were welcomed to the church with a foul smell emanating from faeces rubbed on the church gate. According to him, the workers often wonder who could have done it; reason the church complained to neighbours. Yet, the unpleasant act didn’t stop.

Yesterday, the woman who has been committing the repeated act was caught when a neighbour saw her from the balcony of the first floor of a three-storey building beside the church. The man rushed down to question what she was rubbing on the church gate, when it was discovered to be faeces.

It was gathered that the woman rebuffed the man and wanted to walk away. When the man who sighted her stopped her from walking away without providing cogent reason for her act, she became violent wanting to hit him with the stone in her hand.

Thereafter, some residents started beating her, but they were stopped in order for her to clean the faeces on the church gate. The woman however refused, saying she would not clean the faeces.
