The Publicity Secretary of Action Alliance, AA, Imo State chapter, Comrade Ifeanyi Okponwa-Eze, says Governor Rochas Okorocha and Ugwumba Uche Nwosu are not members of the Party.

Okponwa-Eze who addressed newsmen at Urualla, Ideato North LGA, weekend, shortly after meeting with the officers and leaders of AA at the Party Secretariat, said the rumour making the rounds that the Governor’s son in-law was already in AA to actualize his guber ambition, was “a farce, baseless and an unfounded imagination of the haters of our great Party”.

“Gentlemen, for the umpteenth time, we want to be unequivocal on this issue. Governor Okorocha ceased being a member of AA since well over ten years ago or thereabout. However, we are not contesting the fact that he played a major role at the conception and birth of the Party, but it should be understood that Party is not a one man affair and can never be no matter the powers such a man arrogate to himself. So, at a point the atmosphere in the Party became very unhealthy for him politically, and he left for good”, Okponwa-Eze stated.
The AA Spokesperson said the Party was not a dumpsite or wasteyard and that the State chapter would not flout the directive of the National Working Committee, NWC, which instructed the State leadership not to romance with any politician that would contaminate the Party.

“Action Alliance is neither a dumpsite nor wasteyard. It’s a Party where power belongs to the masses in the real sense of it. And we are not ready to make AA a platform for the breeding of future emperors or render it vulnerable for contamination by the spirit of emperorism if you like”, Okponwa-Eze maintained.

The AA Publicist said the rumour became so worrisome that the National Chairman of the Party, Barr. Kenneth Udeze, had to direct the State leadership to commence a tour of the 27 chapters of the Party in the State to inform its members of the true position as regards the insinuations, which he described as an unhealthy development in the Party. Okponwa-Eze urged Nigerians to discountenance and discard the rumour as there was no truth in it.

“I have just spoken to our officers here on the same issue, our Ward chairmen inclusive, and have asked them to take the information to their various Wards so that nobody will mislead our teeming supporters”, Okponwa-Eze stated.
