A former speaker of the Imo state House of Assembly,Ike Ibe has expressed shock over the quantum number of political thugs drafted by desperate politicians to disrupt the governorship primary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the state on Friday .
Ibe said that instead of 1027 delegates who were supposed to elect the party’s governorship candidate, over 15,000 thugs were imported to cause pandemonium at the venue of the primary leading to the cancellation of the exercise.
The governorship aspirant said “It was supposed to be an ordinary day today but turned out to be an extraordinary day. We were supposed to begin our journey to liberate IMO state today.”
“Rather, the party primaries turned out to be a war between the good and bad, light and darkness, etc. From the late arrival of election personnel and material, to non release of delegates lists, to unbridled fraud and corruption. What should have been a peaceful primaries ended in chaos, sporadic gunshots, tear gas etc.”
“Yours truly stared violence in the face. Election was canceled and postponed to tomorrow. There were over 15,000 thugs instead of 1027 delegates. We will not be deterred tomorrow because the Lord is our shepherd and there is nothing we shall fear. Brethren , don’t stop your prayers for us especially tonight. This mountain must be removed. God bless and keep us all.”
