Former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim has explained why he should return to Government House, Owerri as Governor in 2019.
Ohakim was Imo State Governor from 2007- 2011.
His desire to return a second term was futile when he lost re- election to Rochas Okorocha in the 2011 supplementary elections in the State.
He had staged a come back in 2015 but lost the PDP governorship primaries where he placed third.
In a Facebook post by his media aide, Ohakim was quoted to have said he is the right person to take over from Okorocha.
“If Imo does not want to go into relegation, they should return me to government in 2019” he was quoted to have said.
Ohakim had left the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA where he will battle with more than 25 governorship aspirants who have flooded the party in search for the party’s governorship ticket.
According the post, the former Governor described himself in the mould of great football starts such as Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Ronaldo, who are known for their mesmerizing football skills and dribbling abilities
He was reported to have said “I am the Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Mbappe of APGA and the party will start to score goals now and win. I have become the most expensive player in the politics of Imo State. If Imo does not want to go into relegation, they should return me to government in 2019.
“Those who are aspiring to be Governor in Imo State have a right to do so, but there is no state to govern. It is like a man who has his driving license but has no vehicle to drive” Ohakim said
