Senator Dino Melaye,representing Kogi West Senatorial District, who was reported to have regained his freedom from his alleged abductors has questioned the the Nigera Police Force on its statement that there was no information at its disposal indicating that  he  was kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Melaye on his Twitter handle said ‘One is appalled that the police will deny the reportage of my attack by my brother yesterday morning. This is the statement of my brother.

The Force Headquarters Thursday  said there was no information at its disposal indicating that Senator Dino Melaye,  was kidnapped by unknown gunmen as widely reported Thursday.

And that  it has launched investigation into the reported investigation, asking family members, friends and associates who witnessed the development to report to the law enforcement agency for immediate appropriate action.

Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, an acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, in a statement, said the police have not received any complaint or report in any of its stations or divisions throughout the Federal Capital Territory to the effect that the senator was kidnapped.

In the statement captioned:Re-Case of purported kidnap of Senator Dino Melaye today,26th JULY, 2018″, released to the media by Mr Moshood, said it has since begun investigation into the reported kidnap.

The statement read thus:”The Nigeria Police Force have not received any complaint or report in any of its Police Stations or Divisions throughout the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) or any other State of the Federation of the kidnap of Senator Dino Melaye from any of his family members,  friends, associateo or staff to indicate that the Senator has been kidnapped.

“The attention of the Police was drawn to the report of the purported kidnap of Senator Dino Melaye in some sections of the media.

“However, the Force has commenced investigation into the purported kidnap of Senator Dino Melaye, and wish to implore any of his family members, relatives or friends who witnessed the kidnap or have information about the purported kidnap of the Senator to report the incident at the nearest police Station to assist the Police in the investigation.”
