Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar yesterday declared that only the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could guarantee the security and unity of Nigeria.

He spoke at a mega rally in Ojumose area of Ado-Ekiti, where other party leaders joined him to present the PDP’s flag to its candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola.

Atiku said the continuation of PDP’s administration in 2019 was key to the liberation of the country from its current insecurity and division.

He said: “Since 1992, every great infrastructural and developmental projects in the state had been done by the PDP.

All the completed projects that have taken Ekiti to higher level have all been executed by the PDP.

This is the time to ensure that this administration continues, because it is the key to development.”

The former vice president said the PDP was on a rescue mission to bring back peace, security and prosperity to the country.

At the rally, the National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, said: “We will unite to rescue Nigeria from insecurity and economic collapse.

How long will they kill our people, from Benue to Plateau, and Kaduna to Taraba?”

Secondus commended Ekiti people for being very peaceful, adding: “You won’t vote for herdsmen’s attacks and killings, because we believe that Ekiti State is full of people with highest level of manpower and professors.

“Our youths are very strong, innovative and resourceful, and not lazy as has been inferred by others, because they are the future leaders of tomorrow.

“APC has broken into factions, but I am here with the National Working Committee of the PDP to appreciate you for standing by the PDP.”

Fayose accused the APC-led Federal Government of being behind the closure of Akure Airport on a day that the PDP leaders were coming to Ekiti.

He pleaded with the Independent National Electoral Commission to remain an unbiased umpire, saying: “Ekiti is a no go area for those who want to rig the election.”

“If you vote for Fayemi, he will give your land to herdsmen. We are experiencing a civil war in the country today because of these killings that Buhari and the APC are behind.

“APC is shattered, ask Fayemi which of the party’s factions’ platform that he is contesting on.”

Olusola in his response, said: “By the grace of Almighty God, we assure our leaders and Ekiti that we will sustain the good legacies of Fayose, improve and sustain them.

Governors of the PDP-led states from across the country, as well as top leaders of the party attended the rally.
