DEAR HARDY
I want to thank you for the good work you are doing with the Bleeding Heart and I also want to beg you that for no reason should my real name get out there in the public.

I am a lesbian and in as much as it is not something to be very proud of in this part of the world, I want to say that it has kept me out of trouble.

I got into this in secondary school when my seniors would kiss me, touch my butts and boobs as show of love and friendship. At first I was uncomfortable with it, but when I learnt the school was like Vegas and everything that happens there stays there, I moved on with the train.

When my senior friends left, I continued with my class mates and some night in the guise of ‘scared girls’, we would share beds and do unthinkable things.

I went into the university with some of my friends, so it was difficult for me to stop because above everything, being a lesbian kept me away from the greatest trouble ever created by God, men.

I am in my final year now and I feel like the world waiting for me after school will be very different from what I have in school, so I want to quit being a lesbian but I am scared because I can’t lose these friends who have become family to me.

How do I tell them in the first place that I want to leave our sisters gang? How do I even handle trashing all the sweet memories I have shared with them.

Hardy Please help me.

Dear Shirley

I haven’t been a lesbian before, so I don’t know how to stop it.

But I have been a human being and I’ve been in wrong places and at some point took that huge decision that will make me lose lots of friends.

You see Shirley, I have come to learn something. Sometimes, your neighbour is not your friend; your course mates and roommates are not your friends; they’re just the people you have to see every day and you can’t do without them at the present environment and sometimes, they are the only people doing some bad things with you.

These are simply Partners In Crime, and should your crime level increase without them upgrading, you are surely leaving them behind.

People come and go, so be prepared for what I want to tell you now, because there are many amazing people out there who would love to be friends with you. Quit! Quit!! Quit!!!

Never see yourself doing things you don’t want to do because of friends; that simply means you are still a ‘big kid’ and not a big girl.

Take time to stay away from the habit and then explain to your friends that you’re no longer with them, but can still be their friend if they want to.

Find other ‘healthy’ areas you can connect with them and make sure you mean it because it will be very difficult for you to come out the second time.

You can also take time to read other comments below.

I wish you all the best.

Hardy
