A Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, the National Coordinator of the Legal Defence and Assistance Project, Mr. Chino Obiagwu, and a prominent defence attorney, Mr. Olalekan Ojo, have been shortlisted for the rank of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

In all 64 lawyers were shortlisted for the highly covet rank in a statement for year 2018.

The list was contained in a statement released by the Chief Registrar of Supreme Court/ Secretary, Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee, Mrs. Hadizatu Mustapha, on Sunday.

Among the 64 candidates 55 are shortlisted in the “advocate category” while the nine others for the “academic category.”

Those in the academic category were, Prof. Joseph Abugu, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, Prof. Olaide Gbadamosi, Prof. Mamman Lawan, Prof. Isa Chiroma, Prof. Oluyemisi Bamgbose, Prof. Bankole Sodipo, Prof. Muhammed Akanbi and Prof. Offornze Amucheazi.

Apart from Adegboruwa, Obiagwu and Ojo, those in the advocate category included the Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Isiaka Olagunju and Olabode,  a son of a former President of NBA,Wole Olanipekun (SAN).

The rest included, Wole Agunbiade, Charles Oguejiofor, Olaniyi Olopade, Ikhide Eghighelua, Ayo Asala, Oluwole Iyamu, Keneth Ahia, Nureini Jimoh, Oladipo Olaope, and Mosediq Kazeem.

They also included, George Igbokwe, Essien Udom, Adewale Atake, Jephthan Njikonye, Olusegun Jolaawo, Oluseun Akinbiyi, Ishaka Mudi, Orji Nwafor-Orizu, Ibrahim Idris, Cosmas Enweluzo and Sony Wogu.

Also on the list were Olubowale Taiwo, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, Chukwudi Obieze, Olayode Delano, Abdul Ajana, Robert Emukpoeruo, Ama Etuwewe, Olumide Aju, Stephen Adehi, Olusegun Fowewe, Oba Maduabuchi and Musibau Adetunbi.

Others included, Emmanuel Achukwu, Adekola Olawoye, Louis Alozie, Godwin Omoaka,Tanimu Inuwa, Daniel Enwelum, Daniel Enwelum, Dr. Olumide Ayeni, Richard Ahonaruogho, Michael Lana, Leslie Nylander, Kingsley Obamogie, Orok Ironbar, Usman Sule, Metong Urombo, Echezona Etiaba, and Ejike Ezenwa.

The LPPC’s statement added, “Any complaint(s) presented to the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee shall  be accompanied with a verifying affidavit deposed to before a Court of Record in Nigeria.

“Ten copies of such comments or complaints must be submitted at the Office of the Secretary, Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee at the Supreme Court of Nigeria Complex, Abuja not later than 4pm on Monday, 14th May, 2018.”
