After having a stint in the Imo State Pre-Carnival on December 23, Imo State team is out for a showdown at the 2017 Calabar Carnival kicking off on December 28 2017.
Leading the delegation of more than 500 persons, the Deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ugonna Ozuruigbo OZB who is the coordinator of the programme urged the team to be in travel mood and do everything possible to represent the State in every possible way, assuring the group that he will be present with them from beginning of the journey to the end.
Before their departure for Calabar, Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere who is also the chairman of the Carnival Committee charged all participant to be disciplined as they are the eyes of Imo State over there.
He however assured them that they should not panic as everything that concerns their welfare has been approved and also made available to ensure everyone will have a wonderful experience at Cross Rivers State.
Imo State participation at the Calabar Carnival has come under fire by Imolites who are not comfortable with the scrapping of the December Imo Carnival, saying that it makes no sense to have people travelling to another man’s land when his own is boring.
Reports however have it that Imo State Carnival has been shifted to Easter Period, to enable other states and country participate in it. The shift will ensure that Cross Rivers and other states will also return the visit alongside other countries as Imo State is looking at boosting her tourism strength with the Mega Carnival.
