An upcoming book by Ezenwanyi Anne-Michael Chimbuchi Ihunna titled ‘Akunjieri’ is expected to change the story of the ‘girl child’ struggle as it hits the shelves latter this year.

12 year old Ezenwanyi who is the daughter of Hon. Chukwuemeka Pius Ihunna, tells the tale of violence and repressive realities which confront the girl-child in most of third world countries.

The book which is about ‘Akunjieri’ who was bedeviled by misfortune of loss of her parents at tender age and being forced to face persistent barrage of wickedness which tested the honesty and nobility in her root.

Through intriguing perseverance of inhumane treatments on her, Akunjieri overcame her fears, doubts and troubles to assume the height of crowning glory over all her assailants.

The book which also calls for a robust regulation in the administration of foster homes and more particularly, the welfare and education of the girl-child across the globe, is intended to evoke diverse feelings and sentiments.

Akunjieri which is the first published novel of Ezenwanyi Anne-Michael Chimbuchi Ihunna who is a student of HHCJ Assumpta Girls’ Model Secondary School Owerri, Imo State, will kick off the writing career of the young ward who is expected to dish out two more novels in no distant time.

Published by Edimus & Company in Nigeria, the Foreword was done by Hon. Justice Sir Robert Isaac Ewa Odu, a retired Honourable Member, Code of Conduct Tribunal, Abuja and he wrote; “The book, Akunjieri, specifically underscores the unpredictability of the life of the girl-child and some of the evil of the unchecked and unregulated foster parenting. The book further exposes the strange terrain that can possibly be exploited by unchallenged behaviours of foster parents”

Chief Sir Theordor Kabiri Nwachukwu, a Secretary General emeritus of Nigeria Union of Teachers, who did the Preface wrote; “The author equally used good measure of some artistic and creative diagrams to illustrate some of the ploys in each of the chapters. There is also a deliberate craft on the part of the author to leave a lot to the imagination of the reader as this book is intended to evoke diverse feelings and sentiments”
