With the election of the Actors Guild of Nigeria set to take this morning, a section of the members have accused the electoral committee of planning to rig the elections by changing the mode voting as well as the venue of the election.

After a meeting of the aspirants on Monday November 13, 2017, at Rapour hotels Owerri, Imo State, it was alleged that they agreed to vote with their payment bank tellers, while a group of aspirating are now claiming that the Electoral Committee has changed everything to registration receipts which some aspirants are alleging that some people are making fake copies.

The same group also have it that sudden change in venue from Imo International Convention Center IICC Hall II to Rapour Hotels will not be acceptable.

Still on the venue of the election, the SA to Imo State Governor on Entertainment, has revealed that the State Government has approved the use of the IICC Hall II venue for the election and in addition, adequate security will be provided.

His messages reads; “I wish to inform all and sundry, particularly, members of the Actors Guild Of Nigeria, Imo State Chapter, that consequent upon a written request for an election venue and other things connected thereto by the National Vice President, AGN (South east),Barr Ezenagu, the Imo International Convention Center, IICC, Owerri, has been approved with full security for a smooth AGN election today”
“Be informed also that this approval by His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, our Governor, had been duly conveyed to the National Vice President (through whom the request was made) with transmission to the National President, AGN and remains valid”
“All participants are advised to note that elections in this respect outside this approved venue is without consequence to the state government.”

In another development, a member of the guild identified as Jerico has urged their members to ignore messages from Hon. Irouno as regards to election.

“Every AGN member is hereby directed 2 ignore any message, instruction or order from Hon Iruno or any other person from d government house.As it stands now, You can only rely on any information or instruction from CONAC, MAMA G, TONY CHUKWHU and OGECHI OBILONU on issues concerning AGN. Forget about every other person, especially those from Government House. Except the deputy Gov. Who is solidly behind us. You are warned. Signed : CONAC UMEZ”, The messages reads. With the messages posted by Jerico having Conac Umez’s signature, the AGN Chairman made a swift move to deny signing such message.

“Any person or group of persons writing this text should stop it. I don’t know anything about it and permission was not asked for before posting this baseless information. Let who ever that wrote it stop it. I have no hand in such un founded speculation”, He wrote.
