Having a collaboration with gospel music legend Dr. Paul Nwokeocha as far back as 1998 and couple of gospel albums to his name is amazing for the CV of singer Daniel Ikoku aka Don D who is set for his Afro Pop debut on September 3, 2017.

Imo State born singer Daniel Ikoku aka Don D who is presently based in the United Kingdom has shaking off the silence in musical career, but revealed that his comeback will be in the Highlife-Pop  genre, saying; “I haven’t switched to Hip-hop, the style of every music determines their name. So my style of music now is called Highlife-Pop”

Looking back to when he started, Don D said; “I was raised in a home where music was the order of the day. I first started singing at the age of 8 with the Methodist Church band and Last Days Messengers Band in Okigwe LGA of Imo State.

I made my first album hit in gospel in 1993 titled ‘Jehovah Nwere Nmadu’. After that, I released other albums which did well in the market.

“In 1998 under the Light Record in Onitsha, I collaborated with Dr. Paul Nwokeocha. I was one of the best comedians and performer with my band called Happy Family Band and was the official entertainer for Imo State Government between 1999 and 2006 under the governorship of Gov. Achike Udenwa until I left for the United Kingdom.

You can just imagine whenever I perform people start clapping and cheering, I feel so important and knew that this is what I am called to do. This latest style of my music, is telling a story of love which is the major gospel in the Bible. I pass my message through my singing and I preach the gospel through my music. I am still a gospel and when I praise God it brings me joy” he said.

Don D’s single ‘Pretty Lady’ will be officially released on Sunday, September 3, 2017, a day he said is very special to him for some personal reasons. ‘Pretty Lady’ release is a warm up ahead of his ‘Igbo Nwere Nmadu’ Album launch on October, 21 2017, at Park View Main Hall West Green Road, London N15 3QR.
