A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and the House of Assembly candidate of the party in the 2015 state House of Assembly in Ideato North Local Government Area, LGA, of Imo State, Hon. Ernest Anayo Njesi has claimed that Chief Emeka Ihedioha won the last governorship election in the state.

In a press briefing in Owerri, the State Capital, Thursday, Hon. Njesi alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, compromised and worked against the PDP and its candidate.
The PDP Chieftain alleged that INEC deliberately cancelled elections in LGAs, where PDP were strong, thereby ensuring victory for the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Hon. Njesi accused APC of destroying the economic fortunes of the state, adding that the people of the state are now regretting of not having PDP in the state. According to him, the Governor, Rochas Okorocha has improvished the state, claiming that the economy was buoyant while PDP held sway.

“PDP lost the election because of lies and propaganda and promises that were not real. Many are now regretting that Ihedioha wasn’t declared governor. PDP remains the best for the state” he said.
He declared Chief Ihedioha as a selfless politician who is a committed to the welfare of the downtrodden, the country and the PDP. Hon. Njesi commended Chief Ihedioha for jettisoning impunity and working for the growth of party during the recent ward and LGA congress of the party.

He said “Chief Emeka Ihedioha played key role in the reconciliation process, during the National Convention. He is working to make the party strong.” Hon. Njesi averred that the key political players in the state have vowed to work for him, saying that he is convinced that Chief Ihedioha is the right man to govern the state in 2019.

For Hon. Chinonye Nwabueze the leaders of the party are committed to rebuilding it and setting it on the pedestal of excellence. Hon. Nwabueze advised PDP to say no to impunity and imposition of candidates at all levels and work towards bringing back the party on the path of glory.
Chief Uzoma Okafor counselled PDP, especially in Imo State, to do away with impunity and embrace democratic tenets.
