The Treasury Single Account, TSA which was recently introduced by the Federal Government of Nigeria led by President Mohammadu Buhari to check simultaneous financial expenses by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government has been introduced into Imo State government and will take effect soon; the honourable Commissioner for Internal Resources and Pension Affairs, Dr. Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe has disclosed.

When the TSA goes into full operation, Dr. Ajumbe informed, will assist government recover funds that frivolously goes out of its coffers daily. In a bid to activate the TSA initiative, all multiple accounts have been closed and no one has access to it.

The commissioner noted that government is making frantic efforts towards increasing the revenue base of the state. In line with this, he said motor licensing office as well as Drivers Lience Centers will soon be established in some local government headquarters like Ahaizu, Isiala-Mbano, Orlu, and Oru East. The move he noted, will make the duties easier for the people, cut down on revenue loss, while giving room for an enlarged revenue base for the state, adding that, the entire exercise is expected to commence in a few months.

Stressing the need for effective implementation of the noble initiatives, Dr. Ajumbe stated that government has taken steps towards training and retraining of all the staff of the ministry, to get in line with to the changes.
