Following the killings of two police men attached to Ohaji divisional headquarters, Umuagwo in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, LGA, of Imo State on the wee hours of Tuesday, by yet to be identified gunmen, the leadership of the police in the state has confirmed that it has arrested two suspects in connection to the murder case.

Two police men, an inspector and a corporal were on the early hours of Tuesday while on official nipping point duty at the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Estate in Umuagwo in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of the state, shot dead by armed men and collected two of their arms, one AK riffle and one AK47 riffle in the process.

Confirming the arrest, the Police public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, Mr. Andrew Enwerem said that two suspects have already been nabbed, while more investigations are still on going.

The PPRO who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police,DSP, said “ yes, arrests are being made in connection to the murder of our men in Ohaji/Egbema and investigations are on, with the view of uncovering the perpetrators of the crime against humanity”.

The police spokesperson who declined from revealing the identities of the murdered policemen and the nabbed suspects, confirmed that the riffles which were carted away by the gunmen have not been recovered.

“We have made useful arrests and intense investigations are on and I can assure you that the Commissioner of Police and the entire leadership of the police in the state are bent on getting to the root of the crime and bringing them to justice” DSP Enwerem added.
