Imo Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere has extolled Governor Okorocha for his wisdom in ensuring that the water scheme in Imo State is revamped thereby engendering hygiene and healthy living by providing clean and safe water to the residents of the.

Prince Madumere made this commendation in a press release signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Uche Onwuchekwa.

The number two citizen while congratulating Governor Okorocha as he formally flags off reticulation and re-piping of the water channels in Owerri metropolis and its environ brought to the fore the import of water, which he described as an indispensable element in human and other living things’ existence.

He however attributed many diseases being suffered by people due to lack of clean and safe water with good sanitation.

According to the release, Prince Madumere also averred that the successful revamping of Otamiri Water scheme has a positive connection to the plank of the industrialization policy of Rescue Mission Government in the present dispensation. He emphasized its importance to the cottage industries especially in the area of house hold products, beverages, engineering and medical practices among others.

Recalling the theme of 2016 World Water Day with the theme; “Better Water, Better Jobs” last March 22, 2016, he said water is not just the essential building block of life but provides jobs for over 1.5 billion people since such section of the population work in water related sectors.

He therefore submitted that Governor Okorocha has created yet another direct job opportunities for plumbers, water engineers, technicians, chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, production engineers. He said indirect job opportunities are numerous since entrepreneurs who use water for their productions also engage employees with the needed expertise knowledge.
He however frowned at the lackadaisical attitude of some sections of the public who engage in some practices that pollute the water thereby causing extreme costs in procurement of materials for purifying processes. He therefore called on the general public to disengage from all those negative practices that pollutes the waters of Imo State and beyond while calling on those engaged in sand-mining to secure clearance from relevant authorities before engaging in such acts.

In his submission, he commended Governor Okorocha for partnering with Hegen and for providing the state-of-the-art equipment for best purified, clean and safe water for the people of Owerri, its environ and effort at replicating the same in other zones of the State, which he described as a jinx breaking feat.
