Imo Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere has urged the people of Imo State to take their personal hygiene and fortnightly sanitation exercise seriously.

He made this remark when he was speaking to newsmen along Weatheral Road, Owerri while monitoring the exercise.

He stressed that cleanliness remains the easiest and cheapest way to remain healthy and productive to self and the nation.

He however encouraged the residents of Owerri capital territory to buckle up and take their personal hygiene seriously saying that cleanliness saves one from avoidable waste of resources in preventable diseases.

Speaking to the members of the committee on waste management, he advised them to device a means towards achieve more efficient and effective way of clearing refuse on sanitation day so as to avoid  avoidable traffic jam in the city and other busy areas.

He reiterated government’s effort to ensure that Imo is returned to its pride of place, which he said will create opportunities for visitors and tourists to patronize businesses in Imo State.

He therefore called on the people of Imo State to make it a tradition not to indulge in indiscriminate dumping of refuse and to keep their immediate and business environments clean for health leaving.
