15 house of Assembly candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the just concluded elections have debunked unsubstantiated allegations that they sold out to the governorship candidate of the PDP Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha and compromised for cash.
The affected candidate were reacting to a story published recently in some local tabloids where it was alleged that they abandoned their party candidate, Capt. Emma Ihednacho after collecting huge sums of money to endorse the candidate of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

While admitting that they had unanimously adopted Emeka Ihedioha as a consensus candidate for the governorship election, they however denied ever soliciting for or receiving any gratifications from the PDP governorship candidate. The affected APGA House of Assembly candidates had also explained that the action was borne out of the conviction that Capt. Emma Ihenacho was running a lack luster campaign and presented to them a lame duck governorship candidate who was very un-inspiring and unserious. On the other hand, they saw in Hon. Chief Emeka Ihedioha a very vibrant, desirous, committed and competent governorship candidate who with his wealth of experience and knowledge at the Federal House of Representatives, for 12 years and a serving Deputy Speaker, he has the capacity and competence to take Imo state to the next level of development unlike Capt. Emma Ihedioha who they posited, was busy imposing levies on the Assembly candidates when they should be assisted by the party to conduct their electioneering. Furthermore they reminded the general especially Imolites public that most of them had left PDP after the party primary election due to no faults of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha hoping that APGA was an alternate, but were not motivated enough by Capt Ihenacho and the weak leadership of APGA in Imo state which spent most of the campaign period, trying to sort itself out of some legal entanglement. They noted that Capt Ihenacho was totally undeserving of the governorship ticket of APGA claiming that at best he should have stepped down for Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, in the interest of Owerri zone especially when it became obvious that the spirit of God had departed from APGA with the death of 5 EXCO members and that no matter the level of preaching by Capt. Emma Ihenacho who incidentally lost the state woman leader of APGA and those of the 27 LGAs to Ihedioha, that he has lost out albeit woefully in the power equation. They also contended that what was paramount to them was how to enthrone a dynamic and revolutionary leadership in Imo state which only Ihedioha out of the packs, represented. They felt vindicated when the only prominent politician promoting the Capt. Emma Ihenacho candidacy, in the person of Hon. Dan Ikpeazu saw reason with them to abandon Ihenacho who would pass to him as an uncle, and embraced Emeka ihedioha.
It was as a result of the foregoing that they felt that under such circumstances, there was no way any same and right thinking member of the G. 15could be taking of money or bribe when Imo State was at stake.
