With ace Nollywood actress, Hon. Nkiru Sylvanus appointed as the Director General of the recently created Imo Film Academy by His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha, the academy is set for opening on November 14, 2014 in Owerri..

The academy which is one of the visionary projects of Gov Rochas Okorocha was established to improve, harness and create a platform to empower youths of Imo and Nigeria at large in the movie and entertainment sector and it will be training individuals in more than twelve courses.
With seven department already established, the academy has the vision of creating an enabling environment for film making and to train, educate and equip people for better acting in Nollywood and others movie industries within and beyond the country.
Imo Film Academy which is temporarily situated at Imo College of Professional Studies [ICAPS] will be holding classes in Photography, Acting, Cinematography, Directing, Voice-over, Voice Training, Script Writing, Costume, Make Up, Set/Prop, Lightning, Continuity, Screenplay and Video Editing.
The opening ceremony which will be taking place at the School Audit of ICAPS by 11:00am will be done by Imo State governor, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
The DG of the academy Hon. Nkiru Sylvanus urged Imolites to take advantage of the academy to pursue their dreams in acting, moving making and other related programmes to see that the dream of the governor for starting the academy will come to pass..
“This academy will help people achieve their dreams and I want every youth that has the talent and vision to make a living in the movie industry to take advantage of the vast knowledge and opportunities this academy will be offering.
This is a brainchild of His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha, one of the ways he want to tell Imo Youths that he has good plans for them” Hon. Nkiru said.
