The news that Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has concluded plans to Islamize Imo State has drawn the ire of Young Christians under the aegis of Youth Wing Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN).

According to the YOWICAN Chairman, Pastor Chukwudi Kamuche who also serves as Branch Head of Abundant Life Evangelical Mission, the decision of Governor Okorocha to donate a parcel of land for the construction of a Central Mosque that will serve  Moslems in the entire South East geo-political region is a pointer that Okorocha has a soft spot for Islamism and does not feel any qualms with the manner Igbos and other Christians are slaughtered in the Northern regions by members of the Islamic fundamentalist fanatical Boko Haram.
Towards this end and to mobilize for a massive protest against the Islamisation of Imo state, the YOWICAN is scheduling an Extra Ordinary Emergency meeting to pass a vote of no confidence in Okorocha and to resolve not to support him in his 2015 re-election bid or any future political aspiration. Pastor Kamuche further stated that YOWICAN has equally been inundated of the development in Abuja where the Governor donated a cash of #2 Million to some former Christian Youths who converted to Islam in 2013. “WE are studying the development and we shall resist any attempt by anyone to Islamize Imo State, Pastor Kamuche stated.
