The Imo State Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Mr. Enwerem Andrew (DSP) has accused citizens of unduly corrupting men and officers of the Nigerian Police. He subsequently exonerated men of the force command of blames over corrupt practices.

The police men, he said, are there for the security of lives and property, and require information and tip-off from the public before they can effectively serve the society in maintaining law and order. He then advised citizens to be vigilante at all times especially these days of security breaches with Boko Haram and other militant groups, throwing and planting bombs while others resort to suicide bombing, taking their precious lives as well in order to settle scores or constitute public nuisances. He also decries the attitude of some Nigerian youths who in a bid to get rich quick, resort to all forms of criminal activities. Speaking further, he referred the youths whom he describes as constituting more than 70% of the total population to engage in innovations that can elevate their social values like the man who founded the social media WHATSAPP, now globally recognized and appreciated. The WHATSAPP founder according to him did not allow himself to be frustrated, or resort to crimes after several affairs he made to secure gainful employment failed. Rather he went into research, and discovered that he possesses a creative ingenuity that has since transformed the world of internet communication technology and social media.
