The Special Assistant to the Imo State governor on Lagos Liaison, Hon. Lisa Asugha, has reiterated the State government’s plan of resuscitating the people’s cultural heritage and Igbo language through the establishment of the “Imo City: Gallery of Igbo Heritage”, a world class monument that will take people through the evolution of Igbo race.

Asugha who made this known while unveiling her blueprints for the Imo State Liaison office in Lagos to newsmen, said the “Imo City: Gallery of Igbo heritage”, would be the first of its kind in Africa, adding that the gallery would be depicting the Igbo culture and heritage.

Furthering that it would help kids of the digital age understand what life and culture of the Igbo man used to be, she stressed that it would reflect the different stages of transition and evolution with the aim of presenting the traditional way of life of the Igbo man, showing life in the villages before the advent of colonialism and after colonialism.

“This would be achieved using several dioramas and voice assimilation, so that people can feel and truly understand the way of life of the Igbo people. Also, some past Igbo heroes like Cyprian Ekwensi, Late Biafran war-lord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and few others would have their wax figures put up.

This edifice would be set up in Lagos, and this would not only create job opportunity, but will increase the State’s income” she enthused.

Similarly, the action working Okorocha’s aide added that from her blueprint, she will be introducing a Free Igbo Language Education for Imo children both home and abroad, so as to enable them speak the language fluently.

“This again will help our children both home and abroad to learn and speak Igbo language. It has been noticed that our language and culture is gradually fading out in this new generation, and on this note, the governor has thought it wise to establish such a school to educate our children,” she emphasized.
