In the spirit to raise divine consciousness in Methodist Church Nigeria in the wake of the August break and long vacation for students, the youths of the church are not left out as they will be moving to Enugu on August 30, 2012, for their 3rd biennial youth convention tagged ‘Enugu 2012’.
The four-day convention which serves as an avenue that brings youths of Methodist Church Nigeria together, will be holding at Federal Government College Independent Layout Enugu.
The main features in the convention will include prayers, praise and worship, seminars, talk shows, ministrations from notable men of God within and outside the denomination, drama, songs and others.
According to a release from the National Executive office, signed by Sis Chinonye Onwuegbu who doubles as the National Secretary of the fellowship, there will be a plenary session on Saturday, September 1, 2012, where notable members of the church as well as those who have supported the youth fellowship and God’s work will be honoured with awards of ‘Fellow’ and ‘Senoir Friend’.
Other events for the plenary session include a keynote address which will be presented by Her Excellency Angela B. Colley Iheme, High Commisioner/Ambassador of Gambia to Nigeria.
The release further noted that Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, who is the Lay President of Mehtodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Agbani, will be the chairperson of the occasion, while His Grace Most Rev Samuel C K Uche will be the father of the day.
Others are His Excellency Bar. Sullivan Chime the governor of Enugu State and his deputy, Mr Sunday Onyebuchi who are the Special Guest of Honour and Guest of Honour, respectively.
According to the National President, Bro Chimaobi Ekemedo, there is excitement mixed with expectoration from members who are already counting down to the arrival date of the biennial event, even as he urged the youths to come with great expectation and faith in God who will surely answer their prayer.
The president also charged the youths to see that the conference theme, which is ‘Behold I am doing a new thing’, will manifest in their lives, so that they don’t just attend the convention and leave without receiving blessing from God.
Mr Ekemedo then urged all the youths to be worthy ambassadors of Christ and Nigeria, praying that God almighty will grant all a safe journey to Enugu.
In a similar development, the fellowship of the church in the diocese of Owerri will start their convention at St Peter’s Methodist Church Isiekenesi, Ideator South LGA, Imo State from August 22 to 26, 2012.
